Key asks for the next Scottish Government

Our key asks for the next Scottish Government

CCPS represents not-for profit providers of care and support in Scotland who work with people of all ages, right across the country.

Our members Scotland’s social care and support system – most of it from public funds. They have the expertise, the experience and the ideas to turn social care around so individuals, families and communities can thrive – and so our public sector partners can too.

Social care is not in a good place right now and too many people don’t get the support they need. We know that reform is needed and we stand ready to work with the next Scottish Government, and all political parties, to turn this around.

To do this, we need the next Scottish Government to:

1. Fund social care like it counts (because it does…). Specifically, we need to see our new Scottish Government:

  • Ensure sustainable funding for not-for-profit social care providers, reflecting the true cost of delivering good support. This must include an immediate recovery plan alongside changes to deliver fair funding.
  • Value our skilled not-for-profit workforce and support its development. This must include finally delivering the promise of Fair Work.
  • Recognise the positive impact of social care and support on Scotland’s economic, community, family & individual wellbeing. This must prompt a major rethink of how Scotland allocates taxpayers’ money to improve people’s outcomes.

2. Recognise not-for-profit providers as equal partners in public service, because the voice of those delivering support matters. This must include working with CCPS as a strategic partner in the design and delivery of care and support, now and in a reformed sector.
