CCPS/SFHA response to National Care Standards Review – Sept 2014

CCPS and SFHA (Scottish Federation of Housing Associations) have provided a response  to the Scottish Government’s review of national care standards.  Key issues for third sector care and support providers include the importance of linking the national care standards with the inspection process and for care standards to be more outcome focused.  There is widespread support for a human rights based approach, as well as a desire for consistency and clarity of understanding and interpretation, both on the part of service users as well as providers and inspectors; equally, a recognition that we must strike the right balance between clarity and flexibility to allow for the full development of personalisation of support (under self-directed support legislation, etc.)
