Providers of care and support face difficulties obtaining COVID-19 related financial assistance

The Health and Sport Committee is taking evidence as part of its Social Care Inquiry and  recently invited the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS) to provide further information about the difficulties care and support providers, including housing support, have faced in securing financial assistance to deal with costs associated with responding to the pandemic.  Annie Gunner Logan, Chief Executive of CCPS has set out findings from a recent survey carried out by CCPS in a letter to the Convenor of the Committee, Lewis Macdonald MSP.  A key finding is that, at most, 5.4% of the available funding was applied for but only 1.2% received by social care and support providers delivering between 17% – 22% of adult social care in Scotland.
