A national approach to Social Care staffing shortages

6th April 2020:

The Care Inspectorate has set up a new reporting system in support of the work of the Scottish Social Services Council and NHS Education Scotland as they seek to help to deal with staff shortages in social care.

The Care Inspectorate has created a new recording system which services can complete if and when they face difficulties with staffing levels due to Covid 19. You can find further details here (this is a news feed so go to Help us to support you to deliver care, 7th April)

Information gathered through this new RAG (Red Amber Green) system will be considered by a national social care recruitment group which meets daily.

The SSSC is also promoting and supporting the recruitment of new social care workers and has extended the timescale required for registration to 12 months.  You can find further information on the SSSC website.
