Strategic commissioning of children’s services

The Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 received royal assent on 27 March 2014.  Part 3 of the Act places new duties on local authorities and health boards regarding the joint planning of children’s services.  CCPS continues to work with members to facilitate provider engagement with these new processes, to clarify the connections between these planning requirements and those of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act strategic planning duties (which may in some local areas include children’s services), and other related initiatives to reform children’s services.

CCPS also provides policy support and serves on the programme management group for the National Third Sector GIRFEC Project, a three year public social partnership between Barnardo’s Scotland, Voluntary Action Scotland and the Improvement Service, designed to enhance the involvement of the third sector in the implementation of GIRFEC locally.
