The Housing Support Enabling Unit was established in January 2004 to assist and support independent service providers in the implementation of the Supporting People programme. The Unit is funded by the Scottish Government and will continue to receive funding until March 2010.
Details of the grant used to fund the Unit is available on the Scottish Government's website.
The Unit is a joint initiative of Community Care Providers Scotland (CCPS) and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA).
HSEU research into housing support funding levels and service volume in Scotland from 2007/08
The Housing Support Enabling Unit is conducting a national survey of housing support services to find out:
-
If individual local authorities in Scotland pay the full cost of the housing support services they commission
-
If the amounts of housing support local authorities purchase changes as the new funding arrangements take effect.
-
If the number of small packages of support lessen as funding is diverted to those with high support needs
You can find out more here.
The Housing Support Enabling Unit will:
- collate and disseminate information and updates to providers
- act as a central point for enquiries from providers
- organise briefing and training events
- identify issues of common interest or concern to providers and work
on finding solutions in partnership with other stakeholders
- monitor the progress of implementation of the SP Programme and the
impact on providers and their service users
