Funding to support providers build capacity for self-directed support
The Scottish Government's National Strategy for Self-directed Support was launched in November 2010. In December, the Minister for Public Health and Sport announced that the Scottish Government proposed to provide £3.4 million in 2011-2012 to support implementation.
This programme of support will include:
- the development of independent support for people who use services;
- building the capacity of providers; and
- leadership for the transformation agenda in councils.
Building the capacity of providers
The Scottish Government is now seeking bids from providers to support capacity building within the sector. The total budget available for this in 2011-2012 will be £1 million. Providers are being encouraged to work collaboratively at national and local level in preparing bids in order to capitalise on the outcomes that can be delivered with the available resource. Consortia and shared service models are likely to offer the greatest impact.
Read the letter from the Scottish Government and Grant Application form for details of how to apply. Proposals should be submitted to Angela.McLachlan@scotland.gsi.gov.uk by 15th July 2011. It is anticipated that bids will have been processed and funding awarded by September 2011.
