CCPS has produced a briefing for members on the draft Scottish budget 2011, setting out issues of interest and their potential implications for voluntary sector social care and support providers in Scotland.

Of particular interest to providers is the proposed local government settlement, which includes much smaller cuts in local authority budgets than COSLA and local authorities had been planning for.  While this is welcome, providers will have to wait until local authority budgets are agreed before they can truly assess the impact of the cuts on social care services.

Other issues of interest in the budget include a change fund to encourage joint working between health and social care, and the announcement of a Commission on the Future Delivery of Public Services, on which it is hoped the voluntary sector will be represented.

CCPS will keep members up to date with developments as the budget debate develops.
