CCPS champions voluntary sector role in tighter times ahead
Posted on Monday 12 April 2010
CCPS has today submitted its response to the Independent Budget Review [pdf-56.2kB], highlighting the key role that third sector organisations could play in redesigning services to achieve the best outcomes for individuals within tighter financial resources. The response also highlights the importance of protecting social care services when budget cuts are being made, to ensure that the most vulnerable do not suffer from budgeting decisions, and as early intervention via a low key social care service could be a way to make savings to other budgets, such as health or criminal justice, further down the line.
The review, which will report in July, is being conducted independently of government, and aims to present an informed and dispassionate view of the practical options available to those who will make decisions about how the Scottish budget is allocated and spent in the next Spending Review period and beyond.
