National Health and Social Care Standards for Scotland published

The Scottish Goverment have today published the new National Health and Social Care Standards for Scotland.

Karen Reid, Chief Executive of the Care Inspectorate has been in touch with us to share her thoughts about what the new standards will mean for CCPS members.

The Care Inspectorate will begin to inspect on the basis of these new standards in April 2018, with a phased approach starting with care homes and then progressing to other areas of registered service.  The expectation is that providers will begin now the process of reviewing services and systems to ensure compliance and to plan for the necessary changes where needed.  CCPS remains engaged in the work on implementation, with a particular focus on inspection, workforce and commissioning.

Over the coming months, we will be working closely with members and partners, including colleagues at the Care Inspectorate, to look at this process. We will report back and coordinate member involvement as this develops.
