Launch of Continuous Learning Framework

Adam Ingram, Minister for Children and Early Years launched the Continuous Learning Framework on 3 December 2008. The Framework aims to improve outcomes for people who use social services by supporting the workforce delivering these services to be the best they can be.

The SSSC and IRISS (the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services) have developed the Framework through a process of engagement with the social service sector and a number of organisations have been using it in practice. The challenge is to build on the enthusiastic and constructive approach already demonstrated during the development of the Framework so that it is used across the social service sector. The Scottish Government is funding the SSSC and IRISS to take forward a strategy to support social service employers and workers to use the Framework to promote learning and development in their own organisations. The Continuous Learning Framework will be available in print in December and an online resource will be launched in 2009 but in the meantime you can keep up to date with developments through the SSSC website www.sssc.uk.com
