Information For Prospective Members And Subscribers
The more members CCPS has, the more influence it can wield with the
key policy and decision makers. By joining CCPS:
- you will gain – by becoming part of a representative body committed
to lobbying on your behalf
- CCPS will gain – from your experience, perspective and voice.
Is Membership Appropriate For Your Organisation?
The work of CCPS and the issues with which it is chiefly concerned are
relevant to voluntary organisations which:
- provide social care and support services in Scotland;
- provide services for users who have been referred to them by a local
authority social work department following an assessment of need; and
- receive public funding through contracts, service level agreements
or other arrangements with a local authority or other statutory body.
Membership Contributions And Subscription Rates
CCPS is entirely self-financing and all staff and running costs are
met from membership contributions and subscription rates.
Whilst CCPS may seek supplementary funding from other sources in relation
to specific pieces of work, the core operating costs will continue to
be funded solely by members, ensuring the organisation’s independence
and members’ ownership of its activities.

Membership Options Available
Voluntary organisations can become involved in the work of the association
in three ways:
- Full membership: this option is available to all voluntary
sector service providers, and includes access to the information service
- Subscription to the information service: this option
is available only to those organisations with an annual
income of less than £500,000. Organisations with an annual income of £500,000
or more are automatically invited to become full members
- Local service provider forums: local forums are
eligible to send a representative to all CCPS meetings and to receive
copies of all information materials. This option is available to constituted
local forums set up specifically to represent provider interests, such
as the Highland Voluntary Sector Community Care Providers Alliance,
the Glasgow Children’s Services Provider Forum and the Aberdeen
City Residential Providers Forum.
How To Join
CCPS considers applications for membership in March and September. Please contact
us to obtain an application form with details of current membership
subscription rates.
What Benefits Do Members Receive?
1. Full Membership
Full members are entitled to:
- Attendance at quarterly membership (Council) meetings and the AGM,
and access to all associated agenda, papers and minutes
- An equal voice and vote on the Council and at the AGM
- Right to nominate and elect Office Bearers and Management Committee
members, and to stand for office or membership of Management Committee
- A free allocation of copies of all CCPS publications, including
the quarterly Information Digest, policy papers and briefings
- Invitations to participate in surveys and other research activities,
and copies of all findings
- Invitations to feed into collective consultation exercises
- Invitations to join CCPS delegations to various bodies (eg. The
Care Commission, ADSW, COSLA, etc)
- Invitations to participate in all free CCPS members-only events,
working groups and seminars
- Advance notice of, and the opportunity to shape, all other CCPS
events
- Access to CCPS staff for specific information inquiries.
2. Subscriber Status
Subscribers are entitled to
- Quarterly Information Digest
- Copy of all other CCPS publications, policy papers and briefing
documents
- Invitations to participate in surveys and other research activities,
as appropriate, and copies of all findings
- Advance notice of open CCPS events
- Opportunities to feed issues and concerns into the CCPS agenda.
NB. Eligibility for subscriber status
Please note that the option to become a subscriber rather than a
full member is only available to organisations with
an annual income of less than £500,000; all other organisations are
invited to become full members.
