Scotland’s housing vision

The Scottish Government launched its draft vision – Housing To 2040 in July 2019. Housing To 2040 sets out 15 principles on which to base future plans. The principles focus on availability, affordability, tenure neutral standards of housing, new build, use of existing housing, working towards zero carbon, sustainable communities, adequate infrastructure and promoting new and existing communities so they thrive. Whilst there is reference to the accessibility of homes as well as adaptations, there is no reference to the importance of available support services and this is something the Unit will consider when responding to the government’s recently launched consultation paper. The deadline for responses is 28th February 2020.

The Unit is organising a workshop to examine and comment on the draft principles.  You can find out more about taking part in the workshop here.
