Advocacy for disabled people accessing Social Security in Scotland – a consultation

The Social Security (Scotland) Act requires that disabled people should have access to independent advocacy when they need help to make a claim to Social Security Scotland.

The Act also requires that Scottish Ministers set advocacy service standards. A consultation has been launched by the Scottish Government on a set of standards and a definition of ‘independent’.

Providers of housing support services may have views on the draft standards particularly those with experience of working alongside advocacy services in their work with and for disabled people.

You can view the consultation document with its series of questions here.  The deadline for responses is 7th October 2019.
