This CCPS event will be an opportunity to explore the issues around public markets, competition, market failure and how to prevent it. Participants will hear about possible alternatives to competitive tendering and how these can support a sustainable, diverse market of support and enable greater choice for individuals.
A recent budget report by the Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS)in England highlighted the challenges which local authorities face with providers withdrawing from contracts due to unsustainable rates and which is leading to market failure in some areas. The last CCPS business resilience survey also highlighted similar challenges here in Scotland.
The keynote speaker will be Kathy Evans, Chief Executive of Children England and author of ‘Public Service Markets Aren’t Working for the Public Good…or as Markets’
