The Social Care Ideas Factory Meet Up is an exciting new concept in Edinburgh for those ambitious about transforming social care.
The Meet Up concentrates on exploring important social care ideas,
addressing challenges head on by offering opportunities to gain valuable
feedback from guest commentators and a critical mass of peers, whilst
generating the right people connections that can ultimately help get
things done within social care.
How it works?
An individual, organisation/company presents their vision and/or
proposal for a new social care idea. It could be a seed idea, a concept,
a model, a service or a strategic response to an issue.
The guest panel of commentators help hone the idea by exploring and
providing reactions, reflection and tips, whilst the wider feedback is
harnessed through the collective wisdom of the peer group.
The Meet Up is designed to inform, inspire, motivate and support. It’s energetic, ambitious and very practical.
With excellent networking opportunities throughout the event delegates are given the chance to reflect from their own perspectives and discretely seek advice, introductions and contacts to help them address their own challenges.
The ideas being presented are:
Independent Living & Social Media - David Jarrold, Blackwood Foundation
David is the first Director of the Blackwood Foundation and has the responsibility for turning an idea and aspiration into a viable and self sustaining organisation. His background is in housing, community regeneration, social enterprise and business development.
The Blackwood Foundation has created a new social network and online community – www.bespoken.me
This site provides a platform for people to share insights, ideas, frustration and solutions. It also provides the Blackwood Foundation with a tool to link designers, developers and technology organisations with end users so that their experience and expertise can improve existing products and drive innovation.
bespoken went live in 2011. It has had a good start but we want to talk to potential partners to get feedback on the site and look at how we can maximise the impact that it has. We want to create a resource for anyone that has an interest or a stake in independent living. We are also happy to share our experience of social media to date as it is an area many organisations are investigating.
Unpaid caring and its links to the Self Directed Support Agenda - Florence Burke CEO The Princess Royal Trust for Carers
The issue of unpaid caring and links to the SDS agenda is hugely important and challenging, but not fully understood.
Florence will facilitate our learning and involve us in conversation to increase our knowledge, understanding and solutions.
We believe the experience Florence's organisation brings will be vital to lifting the lid on these critical links!
