Facing the Future: new realities in social care and support, CCPS Conference 2008

The CCPS Conference 2008, which took place on 27-28 November at the Dunblane Hydro, was another successful event, judging from the feedback we have received from delegates. CCPS' analysis report of the Single Outcome Agreements was launched at the conference, and the major topics discussed in plenary debates and workshop discussions included tendering and procurement, private care models versus voluntary care models when applying for public sector contracts and self-directed support and personalisation. Key speakers included John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, Nigel Walker, Senior Advisor for Commissioning at the Department of Health and Julia Unwin, Director of Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
